The Koreans who had served the Japanese remained in power and became the new ruling class. They are still there today. I think this is one of the fundamental problems in Korean society.\u201c <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Dies d\u00fcrfte wohl ein zentraler Teil der Botschaft gewesen sein, die <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiolarium.net\/movies\/2013\/05\/chil-su-und-man-su\/\" target=\"_blank\">der Mann auf dem Hochhaus in diesem Film<\/a>, beziehungsweise sein Regisseur, eigentlich hatten vermitteln wollten, aber irgendwie kam sie beim ersten Versuch wohl noch nicht richtig an.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Park_Kwang-su\" target=\"_blank\">Park Kwang-su<\/a> hatte zun\u00e4chst Bildhauerei an der Seoul National University studiert, wo er auch Mitglied der Yallasung Filmgruppe wurde und damit begann, Super 8 Filme zu drehen. Da es im S\u00fcdkorea der fr\u00fchen 80er Jahre aber kaum m\u00f6glich war, kritische politische Filme \u00f6ffentlich aufzuf\u00fchren, blieben diese meist ohne Publikum.<\/p>\n<p>Nach seinem Abschluss gr\u00fcndete er die Seoul Film Group, die weiterhin Beziehungen zur studentischen Protest-Bewegung unterhielt, aber im Hinblick auf Film war er wohl nicht wirklich \u00fcberzeugt von deren Tun: <i>\u201eMyself, I was never too comfortable with agit-prop film-making. I tended to think that the films made by underground groups like Changsan-Gotmae were simply the other side of the coin of government propaganda films.\u201c<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Erst als er nach Paris ging, um an der <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ESEC\" target=\"_blank\">ESEC<\/a> Film zu studieren, \u00e4nderte sich seine Einstellung: <i>\u201e..in Paris my own sense of the possibilities changed. In France I saw a lot of features and documentaries from Third World countries and realised that they weren&#8217;t being made underground but quite openly. Some of Lino Brocka&#8217;s films, for instance. I found myself thinking that similar film-making should be possible in Korea.\u201c<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Als er aber nach seiner R\u00fcckkehr nach Korea <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiolarium.net\/movies\/2013\/05\/chil-su-und-man-su\/\" target=\"_blank\">seinen ersten Film<\/a> drehte, und es ihm trotz vieler Zugest\u00e4ndnisse an die Produzenten nicht gelang, ein gro\u00dfes Publikum zu erreichen, \u00e4nderte er seine Strategie erneut (<i>\u201eI&#8217;d made quite a lot of compromises in the hope of reaching the mass audience; since I failed, I thought that I should forget about trying to please people and make a more personal film.\u201c<\/i>), schrieb das Drehbuch selbst, lie\u00df alle Kom\u00f6dien-Aspekte weg und griff lieber auf eigene Erfahrungen zur\u00fcck: <i>\u201eit expressed a lot of my feelings about Korea and Korean politics in the years since <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gwangju_massacre\" target=\"_blank\">Kwangju<\/a>.\u201c<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Seinen zweiten Film durch die Zensur zu kriegen, war dann zwar leichter, als er erwartet hatte, aber einige Szenen mussten dennoch geschnitten werden, haupts\u00e4chlich jene, in denen die Geschichte der studentischen Widerstandsorganisation, der der Protagonist angeh\u00f6rte, in R\u00fcckblicken erz\u00e4hlt wurde.
